3rd Line Support Engineer

Location and Working Pattern

• Based in Wigan, WN3 6GL
• Monday to Friday, standard business hours
• Hybrid working with one on-site day per week after the initial embedding period

 

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert third-line support for Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and OneDrive
• Manage and secure devices through Intune, Autopilot and Microsoft Defender across remote and in-office users
• Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain Azure infrastructure including compute, networking and storage
• Support business-critical platforms such as CRM, payroll systems and internal portals
• Administer and maintain physical network infrastructure at all NRL sites
• Oversee business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery procedures
• Develop and maintain IT process documentation and user onboarding materials
• Provide escalation support for incidents and cover the IT Helpdesk during absence

 

Must-have Requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows Client/Server environments
• Strong knowledge of Intune, Microsoft Defender, and Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID)
• Skilled communicator with excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities
• Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPNs) and device management
• PowerShell scripting proficiency
• Within one hour’s commute of Wigan

 

Nice-to-have Skills

• Experience with Teams Phone, SQL or PostgreSQL database support, and DevOps (CI/CD)
• Meraki/Cisco network device familiarity
• Professional certification in Microsoft Azure and/or Office 365
